TLC’s What Not to Wear: A Behind the Scenes Look

An article in the Austin American-Statesman details a behind-the-scenes look at what it’s like to be on TLC’s “What Not to Wear.” Editor Addie Broyles was nominated by her fiancee and got to receive a head-to-toe makeover. Among the more interesting details:

  •  A stylist actually helped her pick out her clothes.
  • They tried to straighten her hair, and she cried.
  • She doesn’t think Stacy and Clinton “get” the Austin style and how dressed down mothers need to be when chasing after young children. (She said this during a live blog while watching the show.)
  • Another Austinite who was on the show, Kathy Garth, actually tried to back out before going to New York and sounds disappointed with her experience, telling the Statesman:  “They whisk you away to la-la land, it’s all make believe.”
